interview with Harry Tyrangiel

Therapeutic approach concerning a psychotherapist;

Gestalt Therapy
Transactional Analysis
Behaviour Modification

Therapy

Internal dynamics; concerning OCD.
- Sense of control and security, snese of mastering own life, defence mechanism of the anxiety.
-Dealing with underlying experience

Hoarding
- Isolating people.
- Start by relating to people, to speak about it and relate on a level contact makes them feel safe.
- Hoarding is only a replacement.

OCD is a drive to be perfect.
Give them experiments allow them to not make mistakes. Allow them to experiment.

Get them to think and then deal with the feelings.

In hoarding;
"I would focus on the process, so that she becomes aware of how she doesn't become close, strong, etc so she can observe herself. Give the patient the permission to experience her own feelings, to be vulnerable not have to be strong, not tell her to change her own behavior. Start thinking, deal with that behaviour understanding how she behaves. Seeing if there are other ways she can be comfortable and safe.

Design

Design things in which they can play and do things with others.

Design a cupboard that messes things up.

Design could help in creating things to be playful and not be perfect. Opposite of things that are well structured. Produce chaos and let them enjoy it. Hoarders want to be orderly?!!

"Art therapy?"
Yes it would enable them to be playful and experimental.
You could get her to draw, so she can experience her internal mess.

You need to understand the dynamics of hoarding. Research this.
